Nate Stinson homered twice in the Pats victory over Alpharetta

Marietta, Ga. - Nate Stinson homered twice and the Marietta Patriots (14-14) scored four runs in the eight inning to earn a 7-5 come-from-behind victory over the Alpharetta Aviators (7-20).

Stinson, a junior left fielder from Lincoln Memorial, went 3-for-4 at the plate with three RBI on his two home runs. Brandon Grover went 2-for-3 with a home run in the fifth, while Matthew Vaccaro also added two hits to increase his current hitting streak to 10 games.

Facing a 5-3 deficit in the eighth, Stinson sparked the Pats rally with a solo home run to cut the deficit to 5-4. Brandon Grover then walked before Matthew Vaccaro reached on an error by the shortstop. A pass ball moved both into scoring position before Gabe Howell tied the game with a single that scored Grover from third. Joe Stucky added a sacrifice fly to give Marietta the lead before Howell scored on a wild pitch to make it 7-5 Patriots.

After Stinson gave Marietta an early lead with a two-run homer in the first, Alpharetta scattered five runs on six hits off of Pats starter Sean Fitzpatrick to take a 5-2 lead through three innings. Brandon Grover hit a solo home run in the fifth to cut the deficit to 5-3, while Hunter Osborn and Brooks Luther (1-1) pitched a combined four scoreless innings of relief, setting the stage for Marietta's four run rally in the eighth.

With a 7-5 lead in the ninth, Alex Watkins (1) came on to pitch for Marietta and allowed just one hit with two strikeouts to pick up the Patriots' first save of the season.
