LEADING OFF

  • The Marietta Patriots conclude their series versus the Alpharetta Aviators on Monday, July 1, and then face the Norcross Astros in a doubleheader Tuesday at Marietta High School.

  • The Patriots are coming off a pair of extra inning victories versus the Aviators and look to sweep the series Monday night. The Pats won 4-3 in ten innings Thursday night, and then 3-2 in 11 innings Friday.

  • Payton Eeles, Ryan Suppa, and Nate Dupree were each named to the Sunbelt Prospect Showcase watch list Sunday evening.

  • Matthew Vaccaro went 7-for-9 in both the Patriots victories at Alpharetta. The first baseman from Reinhardt University currently ranks second in the Sunbelt with a .471 batting average.

  • In the last four games, the Patriots bullpen has pitched a combined 23 innings and not surrendered any earned runs.

  • Nate Dupree and Ryan Suppa both lead the team with 18 strikeouts and are both tied for fifth in that category in the Sunbelt.

  • Collin Teegarden sparked the Pats 3-2 victory over Atlanta with a solo home run to lead off the first inning.

  • Carson Weir (1-0) made his first start of the season against Atlanta and pitched six innings, allowing only one run on five hits with a walk and three strikeouts to earn the victory.

  • Alex Watkins made his 24th career appearance with the Patriots against Norcross (June 15) to become the team's all-time leader in that category. The right-handed pitcher from Reinhardt University is also the Patriots career leader in saves, recording his seventh in the Patriots 3-2 victory over Atlanta on June 19.

  • The Patriots 13-3 victory on June 11 over the Gwinnett Tides tied a team record for largest margin of victory (10) and is the first time the Pats have won via run-rule since 2017.

  • Walker Hennon hit the Sunbelt League’s first home run of the season on June 10 against the Norcross Astros.

  • Ryan Whitener (1-1) picked up his first victory in relief (June 11) against the Gwinnett Tides, and then recorded his first save (June 19) against the Atlanta Crackers

  • The Patriots look to return to the Sunbelt Championship for a third straight season after two consecutive appearances in 2017 and 2018. The Pats dethroned the Atlanta Crackers in 2017 to capture their first Sunbelt title, but fell short against the Brookhaven Bucks in 2018.

  • Coach Gil Navarro returns for his sixth season as the head coach of the Marietta Patriots, a position he has held since their first season in 2014. Under his guidance, the Pats have reached the playoffs in all but one season.

  • The Patriots will once again play their home games at Marietta High School for the 2019 season.
