Payton Eeles is currently riding a seven game hitting-streak in which he is 10-for-25 with four RBI. The rising-sophomore from Cedarville University is also ranked second in the Sunbelt with four stolen bases.
Ronny Piepmeier and Ryan Suppa are both tied for second in the Sunbelt with 12 strikeouts each. The Pats pitching staff also leads all teams with 87 strikeouts.
The Patriots battery is boosted this week by the addition of catcher Leyton Pinckney and pitcher Jared Staples. Pinckney started 14 games at Mercer last season, while Staples led the Kennesaw State Owls in appearances on the mound.
Collin Teegarden sparked the Pats 3-2 victory over Atlanta with a solo home run to lead off the first inning.
Carson Weir (1-0) made his first start of the season against Atlanta and pitched six innings, allowing only one run on five hits with a walk and three strikeouts to earn the victory.
Alex Watkins made his 24th career appearance with the Patriots against Norcross (June 15) to become the team's all-time leader in that category. The right-handed pitcher from Reinhardt University is also the Patriots career leader in saves, recording his seventh in the Patriots 3-2 victory over Atlanta Wednesday night.

The Patriots look to return to the Sunbelt Championship for a third straight season after two consecutive appearances in 2017 and 2018. The Pats dethroned the Atlanta Crackers in 2017 to capture their first Sunbelt title, but fell short against the Brookhaven Bucks in 2018.
Coach Gil Navarro returns for his sixth season as the head coach of the Marietta Patriots, a position he has held since their first season in 2014. Under his guidance, the Pats have reached the playoffs in all but one season.
The Patriots will once again play their home games at Marietta High School for the 2019 season.
