Pats Set for Final Week of Regular Season

  • The Marietta Patriots conclude the regular season with four games in the final week, facing the Brookhaven Bucks and the Alpharetta Aviators at home Monday and Tuesday before travelling Wednesday to face the Alpharetta Aviators at Legion Field, and Friday to face the Gwinnett Tides at Ivey Watson Field.

  • Matthew Vaccaro currently leads the Sunbelt with nine doubles and a .452 batting average, both a Pats team record. The first baseman from Reinhardt University ranks first in team history with with 56 career hits. After recording 28 hits in 2018, he has already matched that total this season, becoming the only Pats player to record at least 25 hits in two separate seasons.

  • Two recent call-ups from the Prospect Division have made an immediate impact on offense. Since joining the Patriots in mid-July, Blake Metcalfe and Anthony Angelety have batted a combined 14-for-28 with eight RBI. Metcalfe is also currently tied for second on the team with two home runs despite playing in only six games with Marietta.

  • Livingston Morris is currently tied for second in the Sunbelt with four home runs. The right fielder from Georgia Gwinnett is also the fourth Pats player to hit multiple home runs in a game, blasting two in the second game of a doubleheader July 2 against the Norcross Astros.

  • The Pats offense has caught fire in the last three games, scoring 27 runs on 37 hits with four home runs.

  • Greg Collins made his first start of the season July 8 against the Astros and pitched a team-high seven innings, but was hit with the tough-luck loss after allowing two runs on four hits with four strikeouts.

  • Alex Watkins made his 24th career appearance with the Patriots against Norcross (June 15) to become the team's all-time leader in that category. The right-handed pitcher from Reinhardt University is also the Patriots career leader in saves, recording his seventh in the Pats 3-2 victory on June 19 over Atlanta.

  • The Patriots 13-3 victory on June 11 over the Gwinnett Tides tied a team record for largest margin of victory (10) and is the first time the Pats won via run-rule since 2017.

  • Walker Hennon hit the Sunbelt League’s first home run of the season on June 10 against the Norcross Astros.

  • Ryan Whitener (1-1) picked up his first victory in relief (June 11) against the Gwinnett Tides, and then recorded his first save (June 19) against the Atlanta Crackers.
