  • The Marietta Patriots and the Atlanta Crackers meet for the first time this season, and the first of a three-game series this week.

  • Palmer Sapp hit his first home run of the season Saturday afternoon against Norcross.

  • The Patriots battery is boosted this week by the addition of catcher Leyton Pinckney. A rising sophomore who will attend Northwest Florida State next spring, Pinckney started 14 games at Mercer last season, batting .203 with 11 RBI and one home run.

  • Nate Dupree and Logan Ward each lead the Sunbelt with 11 and 10 strikeouts respectively. The Pats pitching staff also leads all teams with 61 strikeouts.

  • The Patriots 13-3 victory over Gwinnett last week tied a team record for largest margin of victory (10) and is the first time the Pats have won via run-rule since 2017.

  • Livingston Morris, Payton Eeles, Matthew Vaccaro, and Walker Hennon each recorded two hits against Gwinnett with Morris, Eeles, Paul Grazzini and Randy Guevarez also driving in two runs.

  • Alex Watkins made his 24th career appearance with the Patriots against Norcross (June 15) to become the team's all-time leader in that category.

  • Walker Hennon hit the Sunbelt League’s first home run of the season against the Norcross Astros on March 10.

  • Ryan Whitener (1-1) picked up his first victory in relief Tuesday night against Gwinnett.

  • The Patriots look to return to the Sunbelt Championship for a third straight season after two consecutive appearances in 2017 and 2018. The Pats dethroned the Atlanta Crackers in 2017 to capture their first Sunbelt title, but fell short against the Brookhaven Bucks in 2018.

  • Coach Gil Navarro returns for his sixth season as the head coach of the Marietta Patriots, a position he has held since their first season in 2014. Under his guidance, the Pats have reached the playoffs in all but one season.

  • The Patriots will once again play their home games at Marietta High School for the 2019 season.

Monday's game will be the 24th all-time meeting between the Marietta Patriots and the Atlanta Crackers. Atlanta leads the all-time series 14-9, but the Patriots are 2-0 against the Crackers in the playoffs, defeating them in a two-game series sweep to win the Sunbelt Championship in 2017.
