MARIETTA - The Marietta Patriots (3-7) suffered a tough loss vs. the Brookhaven Bucks (4-1), falling 10-0 in eight innings Friday night at Oglethorpe University.

Paul Grazzini and Palmer Sapp managed the only hits for Marietta as Jake Brace (2-0) tossed his second complete-game shutout of the season. Brace also struck out four and walked only one batter.

Cedarville University second baseman Payton Eeles went hitless for the first time since June 10, snapping his seven-game hitting streak.

Brookhaven jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first, and then capitalized on a crucial error to add six more runs, five unearned, in the second and make it 7-0.

Crew Compton blasted a two-run homer to make it 9-0 in the fifth, and then Brandon Hill added a bases-loaded sacrifice fly to give Brookhaven the run-rule victory in the eighth.

The series with Brookhaven continues Monday at Marietta High School. First pitch is at 7 p.m.
