Eight Pats Named to the SBL Prospect All-Star Watch List

Marietta, Ga. - Eight members of the Marietta Patriots were named to the watch list for the Sun Belt League's 2018 Southeast Collegiate Prospect Showcase Roster, selected by the Sunbelt League Office and Scouting Department and announced Friday morning.

Trey Vanderpool was named to the watch list as the Patriots top-hitter. The rising junior shortstop from Trevecca Nazerene is currently second in the league with a .355 batting average while scoring seven runs and stealing six bases, also second in the league.

A rising redshirt-freshman from Georgia College and State, Chris Rolick has recorded nine strikeouts in two starts this season and is currently ranked fifth in the league with an ERA of 1.08. The right-handed pitcher took a no-hitter into the sixth inning while leading the Pats to a 9-1 victory over the league-leading Norcross Astros.

Brandon Grover, a rising senior from Bentley University, is one of just six outfielders named to the 2018 Prospect Showcase watch list. His two home runs and seven RBI's are currently tied for second among the league-leaders in both categories.

A right-handed pitcher from the University of New Orleans, William Griffin has made a team-high four appearance for the Patriots with two starts this season. The rising senior is currently second in the league with 16 strikeouts this season.

Gabe Howell also made the watch list after drawing a league-high 10 walks so far this season. The rising sophomore from Bryan College is currently batting .320 while also ranking third in the league with five stolen bases. The third baseman was drafted in the 20th round by the Atlanta Braves in the 2016 MLB Draft.

A left-handed pitcher from Kennesaw State, Nate Dupree has started two games while making one appearance in relief for the Pats this season. The rising senior currently sports an ERA of 2.57 while recording 12 strikeouts in 14 innings of work.

Harrison Osborn, a rising sophomore from Point University, has made three appearances in relief for the Patriots this season. The right-handed pitcher has an ERA of 1.80 while also recording five strikeouts.

Matthew Swain rounds out the list of Pats on the 2018 Prospect Showcase watch list. The rising senior from Georgia Gwinnett has recorded five strikeouts in two relief appearances for the 6-8 right-handed pitcher this season.

The Sun Belt League will announce its final roster for the 2018 Prospect Showcase on July 8th.
